Unreported / Underreported Income IRS Scam

There are many scams going around especially IRS scam. There are many people pretending to be the IRS because, usually, by mentioning the word IRS, they usually get away with a lot of things. If you have received an email claiming to be from the IRS, the chances are that it is not from the IRS at all. The IRS does not email people. There are many types of emails that you might receive. For example, you can receive one saying that you have unreported income or underreported income or that you have a fraud application. The subject of the email might be just “income tax” or something else more intimidating. The email might mention something official-looking such as a tax payer ID which is not really your tax ID at all. The email will ask you to click on a link claiming to be the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) website to review your tax statement.

In general, it is a bad thing to click on a link that is in the body of your email. If you click it, you might be on a website that gives you a computer virus or you may land on a website that will try every way to get personal information from you such as your social security number, date of birth or even your bank account. There are many ways they can scam you with these personal information.
